southern summer
Weekends are tricky. You do too much and then you don’t feel rested. You don’t do anything and you feel like you wasted it. The weekend after school got out was a really good one. It started off with Graham’s first t ball game. I love watching four year olds play baseball. It is hilarious. On G’s first run to home, he decided to slide. Sort of…
After his game, we planted our annual garden. If you can call a 5X8 box a garden.
I was better at styling the garden work wear back in ’08…
Look at sweet little Wellsy. You have to choose your battles. At least they were both wearing pants. And here’s the garden now…
About this time last year, I won the EatJxn Staycation. Included in the prize pack was an overnight stay at The Fairview Inn. The gift certificate was about to expire, so after we hosed off the little gardeners, we headed downtown. If you are ever in the Jackson area and need somewhere to stay, I highly recommend this place.
I posted the last pic on Instagram and it made it to Southern Living’s blog, The Daily South…
I agree that he is handsome, but “lifestyle blogger”? That’s a stretch. I think I’d better keep my day job. Back to The Fairview. They even have a game room. Graham asked when it was his turn to play ocean. (Pool=Ocean)
The next day, we hung around for the Sunday brunch. It was fantastic.
The best part about staying in town is the short drive home. Thanks, EatJxn… it was a treat!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I am so glad to hear of your stay and how much fun that was for you guys. We give out thousands of dollars of those things over the course of a year and it’s so nice to hear how it went. Gary Hawkins is a stellar Chef and the food at Sophia’s is really exceptional as well!
Looks like you got to take a break, y’all have a good one!
